The American Society of Clinical Hypnosis
To provide and encourage education programs to further, in every ethical way, the knowledge, understanding, and application of hypnosis in health care; to encourage research and scientific publication in the field of hypnosis; to promote the further recognition and acceptance of hypnosis as an important tool in clinical health care and focus for scientific research; to cooperate with other professional societies that share mutual goals, ethics and interests; and to provide a professional community for those clinicians and researchers who use hypnosis in their work.
The Society of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics
Formed in 1982, the Society for Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics (SDBP) is a international, interdisciplinary organization with about 750 members. Our goal is to improve the health of infants, children, and adolescents by promoting research and teaching and clinical practice in developmental and behavioral pediatrics. SDBP sponsors the Journal of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics (JDBP) and conducts annual scientific meetings.
The American Board of Medical Hypnosis
The American Board of Medical Hypnosis (ABMH) provides certification of competence in clinical hypnosis to physicians. It is the approved accrediting body sanctioned by the two major scientific hypnosis societies, the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH) and The Society of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis (SCEH). Its board certification provides the diplomate with the highest level of credentialing in medical hypnosis.
The purpose of the ABMH is to encourage the study, application, and teaching of clinical hypnosis and the application of hypnotic technique in all disciplines of medicine. The Board has established standards of competence for physicians who voluntarily seek recognition for their abilities and clinical interests in the application of hypnosis to their specialty area of medicine. The ABMH encourages and supports research and education in medical hypnosis, and many members are active in teaching, mentorship, and leadership positions in ASCH and SCEH, as well as in their own medical specialties.
